Fano militia on Sunday kidnapped Dangila district administrator. Gojjam Fano released a statement in this regard.
According to the statement released by Gojjam Fano, 7 government officials, including the chief administrator of Dangla district, had been captured on Sunday, for allegedly insulting the name of the orthodox church.
Fano militias are armed groups fighting in the Amhara region of Ethiopia since last year and have carried out many operations and attacks on the government officials. It wants to remove the government.
According to Gojjam Fano, they captured rifles and weapons from a site where Dangila district administration had stored the weapons to be used by police and militia against Fano.
Two videos were released by Gojjam Fano on Monday showing Dangila government officials in the hands of Fano fighters. One of the videos shows weapons seized by Fano in Dangila. Dangila is situated in Agew Awi zone of the Amhara region.
