Fuel prices were increased in Ethiopia by over 11% today. The Federal Ministry of Trade and Regional Cooperation announced new prices this evening.
The rising fuel prices are linked to recent financing agreements between the Ethiopian government and International Monetary Fund & World Bank. The fuel price increase is due to gradual reduction of costly subsidies on petroleum products.
Following retail selling prices of petroleum products will be effective from January 08, 2025:
1. Gasoline ————– 101.47 birr per liter
2. Diesel ———- 98.98 birr per liter
3. Kerosene ————- 98.98 birr per liter
4. Jet fuel —— 109.56 birr per liter
5. Light black diesel ——- 108.30 birr per liter
6. Heavy black diesel ——– It is stated that it is 105.97 birr per liter.
