Some Eritreans have been killed and injured in a new incident of communal violence in Israel. Reportedly an Eritrean was killed and another was injured in intra communal violence in Eritrean community on Sunday. A violent brawl broke out between a pro Eritrean government group and an opposition group in south Tel Aviv on Sunday night.
People on both sides were armed with spikes and clubs and they pelted each other with stones. Two people were taken to the Wolfson Hospital & Ichilov Hospital. One was in critical condition and the other seriously injured. One of them died of his wounds.
“Police forces dispersed a violent riot in Tel Aviv of Eritrean nationals, during which a foreign national was murdered,” the police said. “Eight suspects were arrested.”
The clashes between the two Eritrean rival groups are not new. In May, an Eritreans man was stabbed to death in a similar incident in south Tel Aviv, while last September, at least 170 people, including police officials, were injured in a similar clash.
Since the establishment of a new Eritrean opposition group called brigade Nhamedu more than a year ago, violence in Eritrean community has been intensifying. The group has forcibly disrupted dozens of pro Eritrean government gatherings in Europe, Israel and North America in around a year.
