Addis Ababa Ethiopia fire

A huge fire erupted in Addis Ababa Ethiopia last night. The fire broke out in the Shema Tera neighborhood of Merkato area of the capital city.

The fire caused huge damage to the buildings in Merkato. It spread very fast and caused huge damage. The local authorities took emergency measures to extinguish the fire. Helicopters were also used by firefighters. The flames quickly spread through the affected area, prompting urgent responses from local emergency services.

The fire quickly escalated and action was taken to bring the fire under control. Addis Ababa’s Mayor, Adanech Abebe, conveyed her serious concern about the damage “We are deeply saddened by the destruction of property.” She explained that the efforts to control the fire are really important and they are trying our best to stop it.

Rescue operations were being conducted but overall situation was challenging. The streets in Merkato are narrow so the fire trucks could not easily enter the area to control the fire. This limitation not only delayed the firefighting response but also heightened the risk of the fire spreading further.

Residents watched anxiously as smoke billowed into the sky, fearing for their homes and safety. Many people got injured in this terrifying incident. To tackle these challenges, Mayor Adanech indicated that officials used helicopters to help the fire fighters. In addition to using helicopters, authorities also reached out to neighboring regions for extra resources and support to strengthen the firefighting efforts.

It was really hard to stop the fire. Situation is still tense in the area. So far Addis Ababa Ethiopia authorities have not issued a detailed statement about the damage caused by the fire.
