Ethiopian Air Force has reportedly intensified the air campaign against Fano militias. For the past one week, the air force has been trying to hit Fano fighters in various zones of the Amhara region.
The new offensive on Fano militias by the Ethiopian military was launched around a week ago. One of the main weapons used by the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) in this new military operation is extensive use of air force.
Drone strikes and air strikes are being conducted in Gojjam and Gondar zones of Amhara region. Gunship helicopters are also in operation.
Amhara region is under restrictions. International media and human rights organizations are not allowed to enter the region. Mobile phone service including internet services remains suspended in the areas where active fighting is ongoing between Fano and military. Since last year, the ENDF has been conducting military operations against Fano which claim to be fighting to protect the rights of Amhara people of Ethiopia.
On Monday morning, drone strikes were conducted in North Mecha and South Achefer zones of Amhara. Pro Fano sources claim that civilians are getting killed in the indiscriminate and ruthless use of air force by the Ethiopian military. The Ethiopian Military largely remains silent about the use of air force on Fano fighters, but it denies civilian deaths in the Amhara region.
