Ethiopian Politician Taye Dendea has been arrested again. He has been arrested twice in the last 18 months.
Taye Dandea is a senior leader of ruling Prosperity Party. He is from the Oromia region. He is very critical of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Prosperity Party Oromia branch. He was initially arrested in December 2023 after he lashed out at Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, accusing him of waging wars and killing people.
Government prosecutors filed three charges against him including being in possession of illegal arms. In August 2024, trial court dropped two charges. He was granted bail in December 2024.
He started criticizing the Ethiopian Prime Minister again recently. Last month, he proposed that the parliament should remove the PM as the latter is violating the Ethiopian constitution.
Today, security forces raided his house in Addis Ababa and arrested him. Interestingly, a higher court today reinstated the two charges dropped by a lower court last year.
