Somaliland authorities have announced that they have arrested a female spy sent by the government of Somalia.
Somaliland is internationally recognized part of Somalia. But existing as a separate entity, it has been trying to get international recognition as a country. The self declared country is due to hold presidential election on November 13.
The Somaliland National Intelligence Agency (NIA) announced on Sunday that it had arrested a female police officer, sent by Somalia to disrupt the election in Somaliland. The intelligence agency did not disclose name and details of the arrested woman. It only posted a picture of the woman clad in the uniform of Somalia’s police.
Somaliland has long been accusing Somalia of interfering in Somaliland by backing and arming elements in Somaliland. Somalia denies these allegations. The police authorities of Somalia, so far, did not issue any statement to counter the allegations leveled by Somaliland.
