Drone Strikes in Lower Adiyabo Tigray
Drone strikes were conducted today ማክሰኞ, መስከረም 12, 2019 E.C. ( September 22, 2026 G.C.) in Lower Adiyabo Tigray. According to Tigray news sources, the drone strikes were carried out by the Ethiopian air force in Ademeiti sub-district of Lower Adiyabo district.
Lower Adiyabo Woreda Security and Administration Office Head, Mebrahtu Gezae, confirmed today that the drone strikes had been carried out twice near a local church, and a farmers’ residence in Ademeiti sub-district of Kokeb village in Hadush Adi. Ademiti is a rural village and locality located in the northernmost part of the Tigray Region in northern Ethiopia. Lower Adiyabo (Tahtay Adiyabo) is a district (woreda) in the North Western Zone (Semien Mi’irabawi Zone) of the Tigray Region in Ethiopia.
Around 20 drone strikes were conducted today in southern zone of Tigray too. Mogus Shiferaw, Alamata city mayor, said that 14 civilians had been killed in drone strikes today by the Ethiopian air force in Alamata, Waja, Zata and Merewa.
Tensions are rising between Tigray regional forces and Ethiopian federal forces. The two sides earlier fought a war in 2020 , which cost half a million lives. Because of ongoing drone strikes in Tigray, Tigray Culture and Tourism Bureau (TCTB) today cancelled public celebration of upcoming Meskel & Demera festival which is due to be celebrated in Ethiopia on Sunday.
