Prosperity Party leaders came under attack on Wednesday in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. The attack was carried out in North Shewa Oromia.
The head of the health department of Grar Jarso Woreda, Tadesse Teferi, was killed in this ambush by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday. Grar Jarso is located in the North Shewa zone of Oromia region.
The ambush was carried out in a place called “Silmi” in the Woreda’s Addisge Kebele. The head of the woreda’s Prosperity Party office, Zinabu Beliko, who was with the deceased, was injured while trying to flee the crime scene. He was admitted to Fiche Hospital for treatment. The leaders were reportedly attacked while returning after having carried out inspection of a primary school in the area.
North Shewa Zone of Oromia Region has lost two leaders in two weeks. A week ago, Abebe Worku, the chief administrator of Sululta district in the North Shewa zone of the Oromia region, was killed by the fighters of the Oromo Liberation Army.
Oromo Liberation Army Kumsa Dirriba group has launched a campaign in North Shewa Oromia to neutralize those PP and security officials who allegedly supported Jal Sagni Negasa. Sagni was OLA’s main commander in North Shewa, but last year he split with Kumsa Dirriba group and signed peace deal with Oromia regional government.
