New Date for 12th Grade Exit Exam for 2018/2026 in Tigray
New date for the 12th grade exit exam for 2018/2026 in Tigray has been announced. It will now be conducted from Hamle 22-24, 2018 E.C. (July 29-31, 2026 G.C.).
The 12th grade exit exam began in Ethiopia on Sene 23/2018 E.C. (June 30, 2026). It will go on until Hamle 16/2018 ( July 23, 2026 G.C.). However in the Tigray region the paper based phase of the exam, which was due to start on July Sene 1, 2018 E.C. (July 08, 2026 G.C.), has been postponed.
Yesterday, Tigray regional education announced that exam material for paper based 12th grade exit exam had not arrived. It announced to conduct its own 12th grade exit exam on regional level. However Ethiopian federal government responded by announcing that 12th grade exit exam can only be conducted by federal government and any exam conducted by Tigray region will not be recognized.
According to The Ethiopian Educational Assessment and Examination Services (EAES), which conducts the 12th grade exit exam in Ethiopia, the paper based 12th grade exit exam in Tigray region will be conducted from Hamle 22-24, 2018 E.C. (July 29-31, 2026 G.C.).
Tigray regional leaders and Ethiopian federal government have been involved in a political dispute for the last six years. They fought a war too. Tensions are still high between the two sides. Both the parties accuse each other of making preparations for another war.
