In the Oromia region of Ethiopia, a district police chief has been assassinated. Legese Seyoum, Sululta woreda police chief, was killed on Tuesday. Sululta is situated in the north Shewa zone of the Oromia region.
The police chief came under attack when he was on the move in his vehicle with his security guards. Three security officials were also killed in the attack. Legese Seyoum was immediately shifted to Chancho hospital but he could not survive.
Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) , an armed group operating in the Oromia region of Ethiopia for decades, in a statement today claimed responsibility for killing Lagese Seyoum.
OLA is faced with the worst internal divisions. Sanyi Negasa, one of OLA’s senior commanders, last week laid down arms and signed a peace deal with the Oromia regional president. Since then dozens of OLA members have been laying down arms.
OLA, led by Kumsa Dirriba popularly known as Jal Marro, last week announced to take decisive action on government.
