Fighting Erupts between Somali Govt and Ishaq Clan in Dacawalay

Intense fighting has been going on in Dacawalay village since this morning. The dispute is between the Somali Govt of Ethiopia and armed tribal fighters. Dacawalay village is situated in Xarshin district of the Somali region Ethiopia. According to local sources, intermittent fight has been going on for several days.

The reports received from the suburbs of Xarshin district indicate that the Somali Liyu police this morning launched an offensive in Dacawalay village. Before that Somali region forces closed border with Somaliland. Ishaq clan people in Dacawalay Xarshin allegedly receive support from fellow Ishaq clan members in Somaliland.

Ishaq clan accuses Ogaden clan of launching this attack on Ishaq clan in Macawaly. Ogaden clan based in Dudhbaydyaaale village Yoocanle district Jarar zone has been in dispute with Ishaq clan based in Dacawlay village Xarshin district Fafan Zone in Somali region Ethiopia. Ishaq clan accuses Mustafa Omar, Somali region President who is from Ogaden clan, of killing Ishaq civilians by using Somali Liyu police.

Yesterday, Somali Liyu Police issued a strong warning to the people living in the northern borders, especially the vehicles, not to try to pass inside the Somali region without permission, especially the Baligubadle area. The regional forces closed border with Somaliland.

Fighting between Somali region forces and armed groups is being reported in Macawaly, Abakor Ahmed majority area and two other places. Local sources say that both sides have suffered losses. In Dacawalay village, casualties of several Ishaq clan members are being confirmed.
