Ethiopian PM has asked the people of Tigray to send recommendations for the appointment of new President to lead the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
The Prime Minister today announced through his social media accounts that the 2-year term of Tigray Interim Government has expired. The Tigray Interim Regional Administration (TIRA) could not create conditions for holding of election in Tigray, the PM said.
The PM asked Tigrayans to send recommendations for the appointment of new Tigray President to [email protected]. He urged people to recommend those who can perform efficiently at Interim Administration and ensure peace and security in the region.
The 2-year tenure of President Getachew Reda led TIRA expired on weekend. TPLF Debretsion Gebremichael group and Tigray military chief Tadesse Werede recently held meetings with the Prime Minister about the appointment of new President.
It was being speculated in recent days that General Tadesse Werede could be appointed as the new president for interim period to steer the region to the next election. In an interview, the General showed his willingness to assume this role, if asked.
