Ethiopian Military Kills 272 TPLF Fighters
Ethiopian military today claimed that, in a counter attack, it killed 272 TPLF fighters in North Wollo zone of the Amhara region. Since Tuesday, clashes have been underway between Ethiopian military and opposition alliance consisting of Tigray, Amhara and Afar fighters.
According to the Commander of the North East, Lieutenant General Assefa Chekol, “TPLF, in alliance with Ethiopian historical enemies of Ethiopia, launched an attack on September 12, 2019 E.C.” In the quick counter-attack, TPLF suffered huge human and material loss, military claims.
The fighting between ENDF and TPLF happened in in Northern Wollo zone areas like Tekulesh, Dildiy, Bereha, Qey Afar, Qube, Qurensa etc. According to the statement, military seized 04 dishka, 22 metreus, 08 sniper, 50 klashenkov rifle, 03 rpg7, 1 ikom radio, 01 type 77 radio, 03 ikom radio, 11 ikom battery and 12 ikom charger. “272 were killed and 260 were wounded, and several enemy forces were captured,” said ENDF in today’s statement. Ethiopian military has released pictures of captured opposition fighters as well. The pictures show 10-15 persons.
Yesterday, opposition alliance issued a statement, announcing the start of a military campaign to overthrow the federal government of Ethiopia.
