Telecom Services in Tigray Suspended Amid Start of War
Telecom services in Tigray region have been suspended amid start of full scale war. Heavy fighting has been ongoing between Tigray regional forces supported by Fano, Afar allies, and Ethiopian Federal Forces since Tuesday.
Last night, Ethio Telecom services were suspended in Tigray. Ethio Telecom and Safaricom and two telecommunication service providers in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Safaricom services have also been largely shut down.
On Wednesday, Ethiopian Airlines suspended civilian flights to Tigray after Tigray fighters took control of the 3 major airports in Tigray: Mekelle, Shire & Aksum.
During the previous war between Tigray regional forces and Ethiopian federal forces in 2020, telecom services in Tigray remained suspended for over two years.
