A suicide bomber targeted a military recruitment center in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, this morning.
At least 11 people were killed and around 20 were injured after the suicide bomber detonated explosives. The attack occurred as dozens of youths lined up voluntarily to join the army in the Damaanyo barracks, southwest of Mogadishu. The military hospital received 30 injured people from the blast and that six of them had died immediately.
The al-Shabaab militant group claimed responsibility for the attack according to a pro-Al-Shabaab radio.
Al Shabaab fighters have been intensifying their offensive towards capital Mogadishu in recent months. They have recaptured several strategic territories from Somali security forces in Middle Shabelle.
