Jubaland Forces

Members of Jubaland regional forces are surrendering to the federal forces of Somalia. Pictures and videos in circulation show Jubaland force members in the custody of the federal Gorgor forces of Somalia.

Federal government of Somalia on Monday mobilized its federal forces against newly elected President Ahmed Madobe. Madobe got himself elected as president for another term in an indirect election this week. President Hassan Sheikh rejected the election. Federal cabinet led by the Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre issued arrest warrant of the Jubaland President.

Federal Gorgor forces landed in Ras Kamboni, 300 km away from Kismayo on Monday evening. Jubaland regional forces tried to stop the deployment of federal forces in Badhadhe reportedly, but dozens of regional force members were reportedly taken prisoner by Gorgor forces.

It seems that the Federal Government of Somalia wants to remove Ahmed Madobe from Kismayo. Madobe, allegedly backed by the Ethiopian and Kenyan governments, is claiming to be the new president for the next five years.
