On Monday 12th August, Somalia and Ethiopia are going to resume talks in Ankara. The two countries have been locked in a dispute since January this year. Earlier, they met in the first week of July but could not reach any agreement.
Turkey is mediating between the two counties. It is one of Somalia’s key defense & Ethiopia’s trade partners.
It seems that Ethiopia is hesitant to resume talks with Somalia. Last week, Hakan Fidan, the Foreign Minister of Turkey, visited Addis Ababa and met with the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
