Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Makes a Record Profit in 2025/2026
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) registered significant profit in the 2025/26 fiscal year. CBE released details of the profit this week.
According to CBE President Abe Sano, the bank generated 80 billion birr profit in the financial year 2025/26. Commercial Bank of Ethiopia plans to raise the profit to 360 billion birr in the current fiscal year. Interestingly, CBE did not disclose its profit last year for the fiscal year 2024/25.
CBE is state owned Ethiopian bank. It was founded in August 1942. It served as central bank and principal commercial bank initially. Now CBE is the largest financial institution in Ethiopia. CBE’s current chief is Abe Sano who has been serving since March 2020. The Headquarters of CBE is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian capital. It has 1,942 branches across the country.
