Death toll from landslides and flood has crossed 40 in Gamo southern Ethiopia. Heavy rains have causes havoc in South Ethiopia Regional State. Gamo zone is the most affected zone in the state.
According to zonal authorities, heavy rains between the night of 09 March and the early morning of 11 March 2026, affecting several kebeles across three woredas. While initial death toll was 30, today zonal authorities confirmed that the death toll has crossed 40.
Reportedly, major roads have been blocked by the debris from landslides complicating rescue operations in affected areas.
