436 Fano & TPLF Fighters Killed, Claims Ethiopian Military
Ethiopian military today claimed that 436 Fano & TPLF fighters had been killed in the ongoing war in northern Ethiopia.
North Eastern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) today published a statement on military’s official social media page. The statement claims that TPLF and Fano fighters, who were defeated recently, regrouped and launched another attack in the areas within the jurisdiction of North Eastern Command. 436 were killed, 220 were injured, and 44 were taken prisoner, claimed ENDF in the statement. Yesterday, North Eastern Command claimed that 272 rebels had been killed, 260 wounded, and several captured.
Tigray military yesterday made counter claims. A Tigray military spokesperson, briefing the media, claimed that the 13th command of the Ethiopian National Defense Force had suffered heavy losses and was about to collapse fully.
North Eastern Command operates in Amhara Afar Tigray border areas. Heavy clashes have been ongoing between TPLF Fano Afar allied forces and Federal forces in North Wollo, Afar and Wag Himora zones since Tuesday. Fano groups yesterday claimed that in the ongoing operations, they had captured over 200 ENDF soldiers. Fano forces on Thursday said they captured two colonels who were commanding the 61st Division of the 803rd Corps of the Ethiopian Defense Force. Colonel Meles and Colonel Edmealem Amare have been taken prisoner by Fano fighters on Lasta Lalibela front.
