Over 30 were killed and more than 60 were injured in a deadly attack in Mogadishu on Friday.
The attackers tried to target Beach View Hotel and its surroundings at Lido Beach in Mogadishu. Six armed men carried out this attack. Al Shabaab, known for carrying out this type of attacks, so far did not claim responsibility for it.
At least 32 people were killed and 63 others injured in a beach attack in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu late on Friday, police said on Saturday.
“Over 32 civilians died in the restaurant attack,” police spokesman Abdifatah Aden told a press conference, adding that one attacker had blown himself up while three others had been killed. One attacker was captured, he said.
The explosion occurred while residents were swimming on Lido beach, former prime minister Hassan Ali Khaire said on his X account.
Al Shabaab is in control of large parts of Somalia. Despite past and current military operations against the armed group, its capabilities are almost intact. It has carried out several attacks in Mogadishu capital city since last year.
