Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) and the i-Capital Africa Institute. The MoU is aimed at promoting cross-border investments, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is the third oldest securities exchange in Africa. Ethiopian securities exchange hopes to learn from the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Ethiopian Stock Exchange is expected to be launched next month. Following ESX’s agreement back in August for an Electronic Trading Platform (ETP), a Broker Back Office and Order Management System (BBOMS), the launch of the ESX appears imminent.
Two days ago, state owned Ethiopian Telecommunication company Ethio Telecom offered 100 millions shares for sale to Ethiopians. The shares are being sold on Telebirr mobile application. But Ethio Telecom intends to offer the second round of shares on the Ethiopian Stock Exchange.
