The deadline given by the Ethiopian government to connect Fayda ID to bank account will expire on May 14, 2026 (Ginbot 6, 2018 E.C.). The deadline is applicable for bank customers in following 27 major cities of Ethiopia, including capital Addis Ababa.

The National Bank of Ethiopia has instructed banks to notify their customers that bank accounts not linked by the deadline will be closed or made dormant. Customers, whose accounts will be closed, will have to visit the bank to complete the linking process and reactivate their accounts.
Bank customers in other cities (outside the listed ones) have been asked to to complete the linking process by July 07, 2026 (Sene 30, 2018 E.C.).
