TPLF has demanded imposition of sanctions on the Ethiopian federal government officials. TPLF and the Ethiopian federal government have been locked in renewed confrontation for months now.
Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has written a letter to the African Union Commission Chairperson Mohammed Ali Yusuf. The letter, dated December 27, 2025, states that the federal government of Ethiopia is starving the people of Tigray by denying supplying of food aid to around one million IDPs at Hitsats, Shire, Adwa, Abiy Addie, Mekelle and other IDPs camps.
Through the letter. TPLF has submitted a request to the African Union, United National and Pretoria Agreement mediators to convene emergency meetings and intervene in Tigray on urgent basis to save the lives of tens of thousands of people of Tigray.
The Tigray based political party demands that an inquiry should be launched to look into the obstruction of food aid to Tigray and the the report be made public in 60 days.
TPLF regretted the ban imposed by the federal government on online fundraising for IDPs, saying that targeted sanctions should be imposed on those Ethiopian federal government officials who are involved in obstructing the delivery of food aid to the people of Tigray.
TPLF and the Ethiopian federal government have been at odds for months. Both accuse each other of violating Pretoria Agreement of 2023 which ended two year long deadly war between them. Ethiopian federal government officials accuse TPLF of violating Ethiopian sovereignty by forming relations with neighboring Eritrea, while TPLF accuses Federal Government of starting the people of Tigray.
