Ethiopian Military Colonel & Captives Killed in Drone Strike

Ethiopian Military Colonel

An Ethiopian military colonel and captives have been killed in a drone strike. Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF), the largest Fano organization operating in the Amhara region, today issued a statement in this regard.

“The fascist Prosperity Party regime conducted repeated drone strikes around Bugna Woreda in North Wollo Zone, East Amhara. The attack targeted Colonel Zerihun Mamuyie, Deputy Commander of the 12th Division, who was captured during Operation Aba Nadew, killing him along with numerous innocent civilians. Many more were severely injured. According to reports, on November 19th, 2025, the fascist Prosperity regime launched four drone strikes in Bugna Woreda—twice on Quaro, once on Birkukwa, and once on Birku—from 12:40 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. The strikes killed Colonel Zerihun Mamuyie and the three other prisoners held with him, as well as the two homeowners of the house where they were kept. Large numbers of other civilians were also killed or wounded at the mentioned locations. Homes and property suffered extensive destruction,” AFNF said in a statement today.

The ENDF Colonel Zerihun Manuyie was captured by Fano fighters during an operation launched by Fano militias in Wollo in September/October. Fano backed sources showed the colonel and hundreds of ENDF soldier PoWs in videos and pictures in recent weeks.

Ethiopian military has not issued any statement in this regard so far. The Ethiopian air force has been intensifying air attacks on Fano militias in recent weeks. The drone strikes slowed down Fano’s advance towards urban areas in the Amhara region. Since 2023, Fano and military have been involved in an armed conflict which has destabilized large part of the Amhara region.
